Man Allegedly Goes On Rampage With Machete Killing Wife, Injuring 3 Others
PANORAMA CITY (CBSLA) - Authorities said a man wielding a machete fatally attacked his wife and then wounded three other people Saturday morning in Panorama City.
Police were called to Villa Roscoe apartment complex at 14841 Roscoe Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. to reports of a stabbing.
Upon their arrival, police found one person who was declared dead on the scene, and three others who were wounded and transported to a hospital.
Police determined the attack was a domestic dispute and the suspected attacker was a man in his thirties who attacked and fatally wounded his wife, who was also said to be in her thirties.
Authorities said the man attacked his wife and then attacked three people, reported to be neighbors, possibly members of one family. They are all expected to be okay. Authorities are hoping when they all recover, they will be able to tell them what happened.
Police said that the couple has children who were reported to be safe and uninjured.
A man was seen being walked out by police with blood on his clothing.
Roger Blosfield lives next door and says he ran into his courtyard after hearing someone screaming. He says he saw the man covered in blood.
"The guy came further down and sat back down on the stairs," Blosfield says, "he had like a three-foot machete in his hands."
Blosfield said he was shocked by the sight.
"When I saw her," he said, "I've never seen so much blood. And behind her neck, it was just a gash. I've never seen before, in my life, almost decapitation. It was really bad. He must have swung with full force."
Police told CBS2/KCAL9's Tina Patel the suspect admitted to stabbing his wife during a fight.
"The argument first started upstairs on the second floor where the victim and her husband, the suspect, lived," says LAPD Lt. Mike Kozak. "Evidently, it came downstairs into the courtyard."
