Southland Gas Prices Continue To Climb
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Monday by its lowest amount since Feb. 22, increasing four-tenths of a cent today at $3.967, the highest amount since Aug. 21, 2008.
The 40th increase in 41 days pushed the average price 5.7 cents higher than a week ago and 89.2 cents greater than it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price rose by its lowest amount since March 1, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $3.951, the highest since Aug. 20,2008.
The average price of $3.939 in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 5.6 cents higher than a week ago and 87.3 cents greater than it was one year ago.
Analysts attribute the rising prices to increasing prices for imported crude oil stemming from concerns over the unrest in the Middle East and North Africa interrupting the flow of oil.
