Southern California Women Among Rhodes Scholars
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two women from Southern California have been selected as Rhodes Scholars for 2012.
San Diego native Stephanie Bryson and Stephanie Lin, of Irvine, are among 32 American students who will be awarded scholarships to study at Oxford University.
Bryson was valedictorian of her 2011 graduating class at California State University, Long Beach. She is the first alum of the school to be chosen for the prestigious program. Bryson, now attending graduate school at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., will study politics at Oxford.
Lin is studying biology and applied international studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her studies at Oxford will include medical anthropology and global health science.
Four current and former students from Stanford University were also among those named Sunday as Rhodes Scholars.
The scholarships provide all expenses for study at the prestigious university in England.
