South LA Pursuit Ends With Driver Doing Push-Ups In Roadway
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A slow-moving SUV pursuit that began in Baldwin Hills continued for nearly an hour into South L.A. Friday and ended with the driver doing push-ups in the roadway before his arrest.
Police began following the vehicle at Santa Rosalia and Hillcrest at 3:32 p.m. amid suspicion the driver was impaired.
Officers made several attempts to stop the vehicle using spike strips. The driver continued weaving through oncoming traffic, traveling eastbound on Imperial Highway. He eventually hit one of the spike strips and continued moving with at least two flat tires.
The driver stopped shortly before 4:30 p.m., exited the vehicle and began doing push-ups in the roadway as officers approached. He was then taken into custody.
