Man Found Dead In South Gate Standoff

SOUTH GATE (CBSLA.com) — A man was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday at a South Gate home where authorities had responded to reports of shots fired.

Authorities say the standoff began at about 3 a.m. Friday when shots were heard that apparently came from a home on Santa Ana Street near California Avenue.

Some evacuations were ordered. South Gate police and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were sent to the scene.

The man was found dead in the garage of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at about 7:45 a.m., according to the police and sheriff's departments.
