South Bay Basketball Coach Charged With Raping Female Player
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Monday a 32-year-old basketball coach has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his female players.
Timothy Lee Lucas II, of Cypress, faces two counts of forcible rape of child victim over 14 years, three counts of lewd acts upon a child, and one count of sexual penetration by foreign object of minor over 14.
The case alleges Lucas sexually assaulted the 15-year-old victim between Jan. 1, 2014, and Feb. 28, 2014, at her home.
Lucas -- who is a junior varsity basketball coach at Mira Costa High School -- pleaded guilty to the charges on Friday.
According to police, Lucas previously worked at Mira Costa High, Redondo Beach Union High, Torrance West High, Manhattan Beach Middle School and Bishop Montgomery High.
If convicted, Lucas faces a possible maximum sentence of 32 years in state prison. He is being held on $500,000, and is schedule to appear in court again on July 14.
The case remains under investigation by the Hermosa Beach Police Department.
