Sources: Reggie Bush To Be Stripped Of Heisman Trophy
LOS ANGELES (CBS 2) — Former USC football star Reggie Bush will reportedly be stripped of his Heisman trophy, the first player in the 75-year history of the award with that dubious honor.
According to Yahoo! Sports, sources close to the Heisman trust said an investigation into Bush's eligibility during his Heisman-winning season in 2005 is coming to a close. The sources say the body will ultimately concur with the NCAA's determination that Bush was ineligible.
The NCAA ruled in June that the USC star had accepted cash, gifts and other benefits while playing for the Trojans. The NCAA retroactively ruled that, as a result, Bush was ineligible for part of the 2004 season and all of 2005.
In July, USC announced the university would return its copy of Bush's Heisman to the trust.
