Son Charged With Murder After Mom, 63, Found Dead In Car's Trunk
POMONA (CBSLA.com) — A 43-year-old man was charged Tuesday in the murder of his 63-year-old mother, who was discovered dead last week in the trunk of her car in Hacienda Heights.
Clifton Huang, who was scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 24, faces up to 50 years to life in prison, if convicted. His bail was set at more than $1 million.
Early last Thursday morning, sheriff's deputies arrived to Vilma Chau's residence in the 15000 block of Las Tunas Drive on a welfare check and detected a strong odor coming from the garage.
Chau was then found with her hands and feet bound inside the trunk of her Mercedes-Benz.
Huang, who was home at the time, was booked at the Industry Sheriff's Station on suspicion of murder.
The suspect allegedly has prior felony convictions for offenses including unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, according to a criminal complaint
