Some Coachella Goers Tried To Mail In Tax Returns At Festival 'Post Office'
COACHELLA (CBSLA.com) — Dance, party ... and do your taxes?
For some Coachella goers, that was the agenda for the festival's first weekend.
At least 10 people tried to mail in their tax returns from the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival's makeshift "post office," according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
The festival's "quasi-post master" Megan Hampton told the newspaper that sending tax returns from Coachella was inadvisable for a number of reasons.
For one, the festival's "post office," was not an official post office, but rather an intermediary between festival goers and the postal service.
Another recurring problem, according to Hampton, was that many addresses were written illegibly and some envelopes did not have return addresses.
"No, I can't 'just take it,'" Hampton told the newspaper. "How do they have their taxes here? I don't know."
That didn't stop the festival goers from trying to mail their wedding invitations, in one case, or other letters.
Hampton encouraged Coachella goers to mail in their tax returns before the festival next time.
