Power Restored To Most Residents In Pico Rivera, Downey
PICO RIVERA (CBS) — Authorities say electricity has been restored to all but eight residents in Pico Rivera and Downey after a two power transformers failed.
The power outage, which affected 1,300 residents, was reported Sunday afternoon.
One of the transformers was located near the 9300 block of Slauson Avenue and the other near the intersection of Arrington Avenue and Telegraph Road in Downey.
Metallic balloons caught up in power lines may have led to the two blown out transformers, officials said.
"It's that time of year where there are a lot of graduations and celebrations," said Susan Cox of Southern California Edison.
No other information was immediately available.
