SoCal Bank Robber Caught
ENCINITAS (CBS) — A Pasadena man known as the "Drywaller Bandit" and who is allegedly responsible for 11 armed bank robberies across southern California has been caught.
The suspect has been identified as 39-year-old John Leendert Oskam.
According to the San Diego Sheriff's Office and the FBI, the Oskam was arrested just before 9:30 Thursday morning, immediately following the robbery of a Chase Bank in Encinitas. During the robbery, a male who matched the description of the "Drywaller Bandit" was seen entering the Chase Bank. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the robber left on foot. Deputies arrested Oskam a short time later.
Authorities believe the "Drywaller Bandit," who wore a drywall mask during the robberies, is responsible for two bank robberies in Pasadena, six in the Encinitas area, and three in Oceanside.
