'SNL' Casts 2 Southern Californians For New Season

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — "Saturday Night Live" has added three new faces to its cast for the 42nd season, the show announced Monday. Two of the new cast members are from Southern California.

Melissa Villasenor is from Whittier. Mikey Day is from Orange County.

Villasenor is the first Latina to ever be on "SNL."

She will be among the few Latino actors on the show, which has been criticized for a lack of diversity.

Villasenor is an impressionist who has appeared on the club and college circuit nationwide.

She was a finalist on "America's Got Talent."

Mikey Day, from Orange County, has been with the late-night sketch comedy program since 2013. He started as a writer on the show in season 39. The 36-year-old was a co-head writer and cast member on the variety show "Maya & Marty."

The third new cast member is Alex Moffat, who is an improv and sketch performer from Chicago.

Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah left "SNL" last month.
