Private Jet Crashes Into Hangar At Chino Airport

CHINO (CBSLA.com) — A private jet crashed into a hangar at the Chino Airport just before 6:30 Thursday evening.

Officials said no one was injured.

Three people were aboard the Bombardier Aero Space Challenger 601 aircraft doing routine engine maintenance when it crashed into the Encore Jet Center.

Robert Dill, a retired pilot, heard what sounded like a loud explosion.

Despite the crash he said this was a good day because "nobody got hurt."

The plane narrowly missed people working in an office.

"They were shivering. I was talking to one young man. He said, 'I just realized, I could be dead right now," said Dill.

As for the three maintenance workers on the plane, they felt well enough to go home.

Authorities said the Chino Police Department and the Chino Valley Independent Fire District both arrived on scene and deemed the area safe.

A report of a fuel spill proved to be erroneous.

The FAA has been notified. The National Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause of the crash.

The plane seats up to 50 passengers and is leased to a company in Irvine, reported KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo.
