Sketch Released Of Man Suspected In Rash Of Simi Valley Burglaries
SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Police notified the public Thursday of a series of residential burglaries that have primarily occurred in the northeast portion of the city.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the suspects have appeared to target homes that have no vehicles parked in the driveway and look like no one is home.
Officers said the suspects allegedly broke in by smashing glass doors or windows in the rear of the residences.
The burglaries mainly took place during daytime hours on weekdays; however, one incident occurred during the early evening hours on a Sunday. Two male suspects were seen robbing two residences, authorities said.
Police described the suspects as African-American males, ages 20-25. A sketch was released of one of the men that is believed to be involved in these crimes.
All residents are asked to remain attentive to this crime spree and remain vigilant in securing their homes in the event that the men begin targeting other neighborhoods, police said.
Other areas located in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties have also experienced similar crimes, police said.
According to officials, alarm systems and security cameras have proved to be good deterrents to these types of crimes.
Anyone with information regarding these crimes or who know of the suspects' whereabouts is urged to contact detectives at (805) 583-6959 or (805) 583-6276.
