Sketch Released Of Possible Suspect In 1975 Killing Of Long Beach Police Officer
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Detectives released a sketch of a possible suspect Monday wanted in connection with the 1975 killing of a police officer in Long Beach.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, Officer Frankie Lewis was murdered on Dec. 13, 1975.
Lewis's police badge and identification card were recovered in the 900 block of South Acacia Avenue in Compton the following year.
On Tuesday, officers announced a $50,000 reward for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his murder.
During the news conference, police disclosed information regarding two potential suspect vehicles. One car was described as a mid 1970s blue Fleetwood Cadillac that has a black top. The other vehicle was described as an early 1960s white Fleetwood Cadillac.
Authorities said they received several tips regarding the vehicles along with possible owners and suspect descriptions.
Detectives described a suspect named Bobby as an African American man believed to be around the age of 17-years-old when the murder occurred. He has black hair and a medium build.
Bobby lived in the area of Central Long Beach in 1975. It is possible that he drove a blue 1970s Pontiac Bonneville or Fleetwood Cadillac during this time.
Police are also searching for a person of interest who has been described as an African American woman believed to be between the ages of 18 and 20-years-old. She goes by the nickname "Spider."
