Skateboarder Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Hacienda Heights
HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — A skateboarder was fatally struck by a vehicle in Hacienda Heights Friday.
The victim was identified Saturday by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office as 25-year-old James Johnson of Hacienda Heights.
Just before noon, Johnson was riding his skateboard west on the south sidewalk of Haliburton Road when he entered the intersection and was struck by a northbound 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by 22-year-old Samantha Mendoza of Arcadia, Los Angeles police said.
Mendoza stopped and tried to render aid to Johnson, but to no avail. He died at the scene.
Mendoza was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
