Singer Mariah Carey Receives Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Singer Mariah Carey received the 2,556th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday.

The star was presented to Carey in front of the W Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.

Carey, who has sold more than 200 million albums, was selected to receive her star in 2007.

The singer, who became the best-selling female artist of all time, has won five Grammys, 21 American Music Awards and was selected as Billboard's Artist of the Decade for the 90s.

Officials shared Carey has 18 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles that include 17 songs she specifically wrote.

In June 1990, she released her first album, "Mariah Carey."

Carey's most recent album ".1 to Infinity" was released on May 18. The album consists of her 18 No. 1 songs, including her new song "Infinity."

At the ceremony, it was also announced that Carey would be joining the hit Fox show "Empire" next season.
