Some drivers are slowing down to read the signs, possibly leading to backups.
"People are taking the time to read them, slowing down to read them. It shouldn't take more than a second to glance at them and read what it is. People are reading a paragraph," a driver said.
"People stop and stare and it slows down traffic for about 10 to 15 minutes and it's tough getting to work that way," another driver said.
The Caltrans closure, which is set to begin July 15, is expected to create massive traffic problems north and south of the Hollywood Hills while workers tear down half of the Mulholland Drive Overpass that stands in the way of a $1.3 billion widening project.
