Fiery Big Rig Crash Closes Portion Of 210 Fwy In San Dimas
SAN DIMAS (CBSLA.com) — A traffic collision involving a big rig truck shut down a portion of the 210 Freeway in San Dimas on Tuesday.
Shortly before 2 a.m., a big rig truck struck the center divider on the westbound 210 Freeway at San Dimas Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol.
The collision caused the truck to then overturn and catch on fire.
"For an unknown reason, another vehicle might have caused the driver of the big rig to swerve, which caused him to collide into the k-rail," said CHP Officer Jesus Chumacero.
A SigAlert was subsequently issued for both sides of the freeway. Traffic was routed onto Foothill Boulevard, authorities said.
A diesel fuel spill that stretched about 100 yards as a result of the crash was covered with sand before authorities towed the big rig away from the scene.
The truck driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
According to CHP officers, all lanes of the freeway reopened shortly before 7 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
