SI Cover Boy Darvin Ham To Be Named Lakers' Assistant Coach
LOS ANGELES (CBS) - Former NBA player Darvin Ham is expected to be the new Lakers assistant under head coach Mike Brown.
Brown played most of his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks but he's mostly known for shattering the backboard during the 1996 NCAA Tournament against the North Carolina Tarheels.
That jam earned him national attention and was on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Ham won the NCAA slam dunk contests in 1996 and participated in the 2007 NBA Slam Dunk contest where he competed against Kobe Bryant, who went on to win the contest.
Ham played at Texas Tech from 1993-1996. His last job was with the New Mexico Thunderbirds, an NBA D-League team.
