Sheriff IDs Laguna Niguel Stabbing Suspect Killed In Deputy Shooting
LAGUNA NIGUEL (CBSLA.com) — The Orange County Sheriff's Department Wednesday identified a suspect who was shot and killed after he attacked a deputy.
The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when deputies were responding to a disturbance calling involving a stabbing at an upscale condominium complex on Marina Hills Drive in Laguna Niguel.
"During the response to the call for service, one deputy was attacked by the suspect and another deputy shot and fatally wounded the assailant," Lt. Jeff Hallock said.
The deputy suffered stab wounds to both arms and was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for serious, but non life-threatening, injuries.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Connor Bishop Zion of Laguna Niguel, was pronounced dead at the scene by fire officials.
"Zion's mother and roommate were also injured as a result of the altercation and were transported to a local hospital for stab wounds," Lt. Hallock said.
The incident was under investigation by the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
It was unclear what prompted the initial attack.
