Carjacking Suspect Clips Fire Hydrant, Flooding Homes In El Sereno
EL SERENO (CBS) — A carjacking suspect reportedly clipped a fire hydrant, creating a geyser that flooded a home and nearby yards in El Sereno Tuesday.
Authorities evacuated residents from the impacted homes.
The sheared hydrant unleashed a geyser that surged to about 100 feet into the sky on the 3300 block of North Edloft Avenue.
A nearby home took the brunt of the downpour, and was red-tagged, and the water poured off into nearby yards.
Fire crews had difficulties turning off the water main but were eventually able to turn off the flow of water, authorities reported.
Officials evacuated residents from impacted homes.
El Sereno is an area of Los Angeles located between Dodger Stadium and Alhambra.
