Sharp Fire Evacuation Orders Lifted For Wrightwood

WRIGHTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Evacuation orders resulting from the "Sharp" fire were lifted for the community of Wrightwood, authorities said Sunday.

U.S. Forest Service officials said residents with proper identification were allowed to return to the area south of Lone Pine Canyon Road and east of Sheep Creek Wash.

Voluntary evacuations for the neighborhood south of Long Pine Canyon Road west of the Sheep Creek Wash and east of the Heath Creek Road were also lifted, allowing residents to return without restriction.

The orders were lifted at noon.

Officials cautioned, however, that Lone Pine Canyon road would remain closed between Highway 138 and Sheep Creek Road until 6 p.m.

Those residing in previously evacuated areas will be allowed to travel on Sheep Creek Road, however.

The evacuations were ordered as a result the "Sharp" fire, which erupted about 12:13 p.m. last Thursday.

So far, the fire burning southeast of Wrightwood in the Angeles National Forest has scorched 163 acres. By Sunday, the fire was said to be 75 percent contained. No structures have been reported damaged or destroyed, according to officials.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
