Shark Used In Kmart Commercial Dies In Tank
VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A 5-foot-long shark has died in a tank after it was featured in a commercial for Kmart, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The white-tipped shark was brought from New York to Los Angeles for the shoot in early March.
The shark was being kept in an above-ground pool at a Van Nuys home where the commercial was being filmed on March 6 when it began showing signs of stress.
An on-set veterinarian injected the animal with adrenaline and later transported it to a Long Beach specialist. The shark died that afternoon.
The American Humane Association, which certifies animal safety on film sets, says there were no violations made while shooting the commercial.
The shark's death is under investigation, according to a Kmart spokesman.
