I-405 Partially Reopens In Sepulveda Pass After Fatal Crash
SEPULVEDA PASS (CBSLA.com) — The California Highway Patrol has partially reopened several lanes of a major thoroughfare after a fatal crash prompted a closure in the Sepulveda Pass.
The incident on the 405 Freeway occurred past the Skirball Center Drive off-ramp and prompted officials to close all lanes in both directions just after 9 p.m. Tuesday.
About 10:40 p.m., officers opened three northbound lanes; however, the southbound lanes remained closed.
The crash on the northbound side was believed to be fatal and involved a motorcycle and several vehicles. Injuries on the southbound side were believed to be minor.
"The CHP is mentioning that one of the traffic accidents may have been a cause for the second traffic collision, possible debris flying across the freeway," reported Sky9's Stu Mundel.
Mundel said the closure has created a huge backup, according to aerial footage.
