Second Annual 'Night On Broadway' Takes Downtown LA By Storm

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — From Ferris wheels to silent disco parties, the Second Annual "Night on Broadway" in Los Angeles had it all.

Seven of 12 historic Los Angeles area theatres opened their doors on Saturday, where thousands of people attended the different variety of free performances.

LA City Councilman Jose Huizar started the event last year in order to celebrate his 10-year plan to revitalize the historic broadway corridor of LA.

"I grew up coming to this place a long time ago, and it's nice to be able to walk down the street and feel safe and enjoy the beautiful buildings," Ingrid Sanchez said.

Huizar says the night was mostly privately funded.

"With broadway coming back to life, beautiful street with so much history, we're getting the downtown we've always wanted, and every city needs a great downtown," Huizar told KCAL9's Erica Nochlin.
