Search Continues For Gunman Who Shot 3 Children At South LA Taco Stand
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Three children are recovering from bullet wounds Thursday after being struck by gunfire at a taco stand in South Los Angeles.
The incident unfolded around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, located near Figueroa and 94th streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Upon their arrival, paramedics transported two 13-year-olds (a boy and a girl) and a 11-year-old male to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the shooting.
According to police, two vehicles suspected in the shootings were seen leaving the scene.
At this time, no suspect description has been made available.
On Thursday, KCAL9's Jeff Nguyen was able to speak to one of the victims, the 11-year-old boy.
"It felt like it was burning – like it went through my hand," said the boy who didn't want to use his name or show his face.
He spoke to Nguyen with his parents' permission.
The boys says he had just finished eating at the taco cart when a car slowly rolled by.
"A car pulled over when a guy was walking. He stuck the guy out of the car and started shooting. And when I turned the bullet had hit me," the boy days.
It was the second shooting at this intersection in the about week.
The young victim says his neighborhood needs help from the police.
"Patrol at least like more. Keep track of the cars and stuff. More cameras on the streets and stuff," he said.
All of the victims are expected to make a full recovery.
Police believe the shooting was gang related and the children were innocently caught in the crossfire.
