Schwarzenegger Refuses Comment On Nunez Commutation

LOS ANGELES (CBS) —Despite lingering questions about one of his final acts as governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger says he wants to leave politics for "another day".

KNX 1070's John Brooks reports former California governor refuses to discuss the letter of apology he sent to the Santos family over the controversial sentence reduction he gave for the son of the former speaker of the assembly.

At an event on Wednesday night at the Orange County Center For The Performing Arts, KCAL9 political reporter Dave Bryan peppered Schwarzenegger with questions asking him to explain his actions.

Schwarzenegger previously said in his apology letter to the Santos family that the reason he cut the prison term to seven years was Esteban Nunez did not deserve the same 16-year sentence as the man who wielded the knife.

Fred Santos says he believes it was his family's constitutional right as victims to be notified prior to Schwarzenegger commuting the prison sentence for Nunez and is considering legal action against the former governor and the state.
