Santana, 5 Solo Shots Push Angels Past Pangers 8-4

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Vernon Wells hit the first of the Angels' five solo home runs and had an RBI triple to back up Ervin Santana pitching on short rest in Los Angeles' 8-4 victory over the AL West-leading Texas Rangers on Saturday night.

Mike Trout and Bobby Wilson, the last two hitters in the lineup, both went deep in the fourth off C.J. Wilson (13-6), who gave up a career-worst four homers. Peter Bourjos also homered off the Texas starter.

Santana (10-9) pitched with only three days of rest for the first time in his career, giving up four runs and four hits over seven innings.

Los Angeles (72-60) is within two games of the division lead.

David Murphy homered for the Rangers (75-59), who have lost seven of 10.
