Santa Monica Bans Public E-Cigarette Use
SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — Smoking of e-cigarettes in Santa Monica will now be restricted in the same way as traditional cigarettes.
The City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday night banning their use in public places.
Currently, people are allowed to use e-cigarettes in bars, restaurants and beyond in the beach-side community.
Under the ordinance, selling to minors will be banned. Vaping will be prohibited in public areas and retailers must have a tobacco license in order to sell e-cigarette products.
In store smoking at vapor bars will also be banned.
The ordinance will take effect Nov. 13.
Santa Monica now joins the cities of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills in banning public e-cigarette use.
