Santa Clara's Huge Start Enough To Sink Pepperdine
MALIBU (AP) -- Marc Trasolini scored seven of his game-high 18 points in helping Santa Clara jump to a 26-5 lead, and the Broncos went on to a 71-59 victory at Pepperdine on Thursday night.
Trasolini hit 7 of 9 shots from the floor and had eight rebounds for Santa Clara (13-9, 4-2 West Coast Conference).
Evan Roquemore added 14 points, Niyi Harrison 12 points and Troy Payne 11.
Mychel Thompson had 17 points and Joshua Lowery 12 for Pepperdine (8-15, 2-4).
Santa Clara broke out to a 17-1 lead as the Waves didn't hit a field goal until 4 1/2 minutes into the game.
The Broncos went into halftime with a 33-18 lead, and Pepperdine got no closer than 12 points in the second half.
