Power Outage Forces Santa Ana's County Courthouses To Shut Down
SANTA ANA (CBS) — A power outage has shut down Santa Ana's county courthouses Friday morning.
A problem with turbines at Orange County's co-geenration facility knocked out electricity at 7:05 a.m., affecting power to the Central Justice Center, the West Justice Center and Civil Complex Center, according to Orange County Superior Court spokeswoman Carole Levitzky.
In-custody hearings at Dept. CJ1 in the Orange County jail were not affected, she said.
Its not known when exactly power will be restored, Levitzky said, although it has flickered on and off. Later, officials decided to close the courthouses for the day and reopen Monday.
"There's very little light on the upper floors unless you have natural light coming through," Levitzky said. "We have emergency generators, but it doesn't provide us full power."
The Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach, the North Justice Center in Fullerton and the West Justice Center in Westminster were not affected.
