Man, Dog Fatally Shot In Santa Ana Apartment Complex
SANTA ANA (CBSLA) — Police have flooded a Santa Ana neighborhood after a shooting that left one man dead in the carport area of an apartment complex.
Police were called at about 2:30 a.m. to Waterstone Park, 2833 N. Bristol Street, where they found 20-year-old Adrian Real of Santa Ana inside the gated apartment complex with several gunshot wounds.
There was no description available of the suspect. But police did say the suspect took the victim's car and is believed to be armed and dangerous.
The car was described as a silver 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer with CA license plate 8BRF172.
It's not known whether the shooting was motivated by the theft of the car, police said.
"They don't know if the victim knows the individual or if this is a robbery that's now turned into a carjacking," Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. "But we do know the victim's vehicle is missing."
Bullets also pierced the walls of the man's apartment, fatally wounding the family dog. His family was also home, sleeping upstairs, and were the people to rush outside and find Real after the shooting.
Officers are looking for neighbors who may have seen something and studying security video from throughout the complex.
