Santa Ana Police Searching For Suspect In Parking Lot Stabbing
SANTA ANA (CBS) — Santa Ana police announced Thursday that they are stepping up their search for a man who allegedly someone at a commercial parking lot last month.
David Lupercio Luna, 42, is wanted on a $1 million arrest warrant charging him with attempted murder, with sentencing enhancement allegations for attempted premeditated murder, inflicting great bodily harm and using a deadly weapon, according to court records.
Luna and the victim got into a dispute on May 2 in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree store in the 600 block of South Main Street, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
Investigators do not know what the dispute was about, Bertagna said.
Luna allegedly stabbed the man in the chest and legs before fleeing on a bicycle, according to Bertagna.
"The victim was in critical condition that day," Bertagna said. "We thought it would be a homicide, but he survived."
Investigators suspect Luna is still in the area and last lived in the 300 block of South Birch Street, Bertagna said.
"We keep getting reports he's in the area," he said.
Luna was described as Latino, 5-foot-10 and weighing about 230 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and "Mexicano" tattooed on his chest. He has more tattoos on his arms and back of a snake, woman and a devil.
