Santa Ana Police Investigate Shooting At Luxury Apartment Building; Suspect At Large
SANTA ANA (CBSLA) — Santa Ana police were investigating a shooting Wednesday afternoon at a luxury apartment building that sent three male victims to area hospitals.
The shooting happened at about 3:15 p.m. at an apartment building near MacArthur Boulevard and the 55 Freeway.
"All of a sudden, you know, you hear gunshots," Rima Masri, a tenant, said. "And it's supposed to be a place, this is home for us, and it's scary."
Masri said she came out of the elevator on the ground floor where she saw a man on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds and two men running away from the building.
"There's blood everywhere," she said. "I didn't know whether he was alive or not."
The Santa Ana Police Department said there were three known shooting victims — at least one found on the 15th floor of the building and one found on the ground floor. All three victims were taken to area hospitals in unknown condition.
According to the police, the known shooting victims were a 19-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old man.
Officers went floor-by-floor, clearing the two towers of the apartment complex approximately four hours after the shooting and allowing residents back inside their units, though police remained on scene trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.
