Santa Ana Man Sentenced To 13 Years For Trying To Kill His Elderly Father

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 44-year-old Santa Ana man was sentenced to 13 years to life in prison for the attempted murder of his 81-year-old father.

Prosecutors had alleged Milorad Teodor Olic's father threatened to cut him off financially and Olic, in turned, repeatedly slashed his father's face.

Olic defended himself during his brief trial.

At his sentencing, Olic lashed out at Superior Court Judge Thomas Goethals calling him "completely crazy."

As court deputies led a handcuffed Olic away, he shouted "(Expletive) you all."

He also vowed he wouldn't serve one day of his sentence.

During the trial, Olic referred to his father as "Darth Vader."

The elder Olic paid his son a monthly $4,o00 stipend and told him in February 2010 that he was no longer able to afford the payments.

During the trial, the elder Olic told the court the attack left him with permanent injuries, including the loss of his sense of taste. He said, "The emotional impact was even harder than the physical."

Olic also testified that he calculated over the court of his son's adult life he spent about $793,000 in support. His son never worked and had no other source of income.
