RIVERSIDE (CBSLA) — Firefighters Sunday continued to gain ground on a fast-growing brush fire in Riverside County that was burning south of Beaumont.
The Sanderson fire was first reported at 1 a.m. near La Borde Canyon Road and Jack Rabbit Trail, and later spurred an evacuation warning for the homes north of Gilman Springs and South of Timothy Lane. As of 12:45 p.m., that warning had been lifted.
All evacuation orders were also lifted.
At last word, the fire had scorched 1,933 acres and was 10 percent contained. No injuries have been reported.
About 130 firefighters have been assigned to the firefight, and one helicopter was assisting. The cause of the fire was unknown.
