KNX 1070's Tom Reopelle Reports
San Diego Superior Court Judge Michael Smyth on Tuesday ordered Lisa Hench to report for custody March 18.
City News Service says the judge may allow the 45-year-old mother of three to serve her time in a work furlough program so she can get mental health treatment during the day and be jailed at night.
Prosecutors say Hench pinched and used her fingernails to scratch the children after befriending their mothers in 2009.
Her attorney says Hench, who apologized to the mothers, needs help, not jail time.
The judge says doctors do not fully understand why she did it.
