San Diego Charity Group Volunteers Robbed
SAN DIEGO (CBS) — Volunteers for a charity group working to get people off drugs and out of gangs were held at gunpoint and robbed for thousands of dollars.
Police say a group of 10 volunteers with the group Second Chance were sitting in a van Monday morning after returning from a two-week fundraising trip when three gunmen approached them.
One of the victims told KGTV they were surrounded by the masked gunmen who demanded cash from them. At gunpoint, the volunteers handed over thousands of dollars they raised by selling candy bars around the state.
KGTV says the robbers had a shotgun and a handgun. One man fired a shot in the air but nobody was hit.
San Diego Police are searching for the suspects who are only described as black males.
