San Clemente Man, 20, Arrested For Fatal Crash That Killed 23-Year-Old Woman
SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 20-year-old San Clemente man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly causing a crash that killed a 23-year-old woman in Lake Forest.
Jose Javier Fernandez Ramirez is charged with a felony count of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. He also was cited for having no insurance.
Ramirez was driving east on Bake Parkway in a Toyota pickup truck about 11:10 a.m. on Jan. 14 when he ran a red light at North Pointe Drive. Authorities said he crashed into the passenger side of a Hyundai driven by 23-year-old Nicole Davenport.
Davenport was making a legal left turn at the time, Orange County prosecutors said.
Davenport was taken to Mission Hospital, where she died.
Ramirez, who is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, faces up to six years in prison if convicted.
