Ryan Seacrest's Beverly Hills Home 'Swatted'
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Ryan Seacrest is the latest celebrity to fall victim to a "swatting" prank after someone falsely reported a break-in at the television and radio personality's Beverly Hills home.
Police received a 911 call via a relay service around 2:21 p.m. Wednesday in which a caller claimed armed men were trying to force their way into the star's residence in the 1100 block of Cabrillo Lane.
Officers made contact with the private security at the house and were told there was no trouble, according to Sgt. Renato Moreno of the Beverly Hills Police Department.
Authorities also spoke with Seacrest, who was home at the time.
In the past several days, Diddy, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Russell Brand, and Justin Timberlake have all been "swatted."
Officials believe bogus 911 calls have reached near-epidemic levels and have proposed that guilty parties foot the bill for soliciting a large police response.
