Rudy Giuliani, Rick Warren Speak To Thousands At San Bernardino Memorial

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com/AP) — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and evangelical pastor Rick Warren spoke at a memorial on Monday for those killed in the San Bernardino terror attack.

Giuliani and Warren, pastor of the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest addressed a crowd of more than 3,000 San Bernardino County employees at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario who arrived to mourn the 14 victims of the Dec. 2 attack on a health department luncheon.

Giuliani told San Bernardino residents to be resilient, invoking his own experience of serving as Mayor of New York during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"Here's what you gotta do: you gotta make good come out of the bad," he said. "Come to San Bernardino and spend money and tell the terrorists, 'Screw you. You can't beat us. We're stronger than you are."

Warren told the crowd it's important to take time to grieve.

"Recovery takes time. There is no expiration date on grief,." he said. "You will never get over it, but you will get through it."

The ceremony came on the same day that employees returned to work at the Inland Regional Center social services center where the shooting took place.
