Rowland Heights Doctor Accused Of Prescribing Unsafe Amounts Of Painkillers
LOS ANGELES (AP) — State medical officials have accused a Southern California doctor of negligently prescribing thousands of painkiller pills to six patients and an undercover investigator.
The Osteopathic Medical Board of California wants to revoke the license of Dr. Lisa Tseng of Rowland Heights. Details of the board's misconduct accusations were made available on its website Tuesday.
The board claims that for years, Tseng prescribed unsafe amounts of drugs such as oxycodone to patients complaining of pain without properly assessing them or making sure they weren't abusing the narcotics.
Last year, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration suspended Tseng's certificate to prescribe controlled drugs, noting that she wrote more than 27,000 prescriptions over three years and that several of her patients died of overdoses.
