Rock Mitigation To Partially Close PCH Through Malibu
MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Pacific Coast Highway will be intermittently closed on Monday and Tuesday as crews work to remove rocks from the area, Caltrans said.
The closures will last from 6:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. from south of Las Posas Road to north of Deer Creek Road.
The California Highway Patrol will be on hand to direct traffic, officials said. The 101 Freeway is a recommended alternative.
"In the first phase of this rock mitigation project, rock climbers will scale the slopes overlooking the highway to remove rocks that could potentially fall onto the highway," Patrick Chandler said.

The delays are scheduled to last 20 to 30 minutes.
A helicopter will be used to install rock netting to the hillside at a later date.
