Robert De Niro Pulls Controversial Anti-Vaccination Documentary From Tribeca Film Festival
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Robert De Niro is pulling a controversial anti-vaccination documentary from the Tribeca Film Festival.
The film was co-directed and written by Andrew Wakefield, who was stripped of his medical license for linking autism to childhood vaccines.
That study was later discredited.
In a statement, De Niro said he doesn't believe the film "contributes to or furthers the discussion" he hoped for.
De Niro has a child with autism.
The Tribeca Film Festival was established in 2002 and is scheduled to take place from April 13-24.
