Search On For 3 Bank Robbers Who Pistol-Whipped, Tasered Victims In Mar Vista
WEST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police swarmed a bank in Mar Vista Thursday after a violent takeover robbery.
It happened around 1:50 p.m. when three men entered a One West Bank branch at 11310 National Blvd. near Sawtelle Boulevard and took over the bank, the LAPD said.
Three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the robbery. A security guard and another person were hit with a Taser and another person was pistol-whipped, police told CBS2/KCAL9's Randy Paige.
The men hopped into a getaway car, which police say is possibly stolen. Witnesses say a woman was at the wheel.
Police were searching the area for the suspects and the car.
A witness who only wanted to be identified as Amanda said she was at the doctor's office adjacent to the bank when the robbery unfolded. She says someone inside the doctor's office saw masked men enter the bank and notified police.
Another witness told CBS2/KCAL9's Rachel Kim that he saw the robbers leave in a green Toyota Camry.
Investigators say another takeover robbery happened at this bank two years ago. It's not clear if these two robberies are connected.
Police say takeover bank robberies are rare in Los Angeles.
