Robbers Invade 2 Compton Homes Within An Hour
COMPTON (CBS) — Authorities are investigating whether two early-morning home invasion robberies in Compton were carried out by the same robbers.
In the first robbery, three men with handguns and another with a shotgun kicked down the door of a house in the 100 block of South Dwight Avenue, Sheriff's Lt. Jimmy Rios said.
The residents – a man, a woman and their child – were asleep when they heard a crash. The robbers confronted the parents in their bedroom and pistol-whipped the man, who was later hospitalized with facial injuries.
The robbers all wore hooded sweatshirts, ransacked the residence and stole jewelry before driving off, Rios said.
An hour later, three men armed with handguns broke into a home in the 400 block of North Kemp, Rios said. The homes were less than two miles apart.
"It's probably the same suspects," he said.
Details of the second home invasion robbery were not immediately available.
