Riverside Man, 21, Killed After Car Going 100 MPH Slams Into Tree

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old Riverside man was killed Friday after his car slammed into a tree on an Ontario Street.

An Ontario police officer observed Roger Aguirre Ortiz going 100 mph on Archibald Avenue.

Officials said Ortiz was speeding north on Archibald when his 2007 Chevy Impala veered off the road and plowed into a tree on Riverside Drive.

The officer who observed Ortiz speeding found Ortiz inside the wrecked vehicle.

Paramedics took Ortiz to Kaiser Hospital in Fontana where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officials said Ortiz was not being chased and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Ontario Police Sgt. Jeff Higbee said the crash remains under investigation.
