Rivers Fantastic In Chargers Preseason Debut
(CBS) -- Philip Rivers marched the Chargers down the field for a touchdown on his only drive behind center on Thursday night as the Chargers opened up their preseason schedule with a 24-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
The touchdown drive was highlighted by a 48-yard pass to Vincent Jackson, one of his two catches on the drive and Mike Tolbert found the endzone on an eight-yard reception, finishing a near perfect start for the Chargers' starters.
Ryan Mathews carried the ball two times for five yards and Rivers finished the day 5-6 for 87 yards and the touchdown.
Seattle scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, including a six-yard touchdown pass by former Taft High School star Josh Portis to Anthony McCoy.
Seahawks starter Tavaris Jackson went 3-5 with 13 yards.
