Rice, Irvin Set To Captain NFL's 2016 Pro Bowl
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A pair of Hall of Fame wide receivers will be coaching the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii this season.
Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice will be the two coaches of this year's Pro Bowl teams, and the fantasy draft style of selecting the teams will remain, as there will not be an AFC or NFC team.
Irvin coached the Pro Bowl last season, beating Chris Carter and "Team Carter", 32-28, at the University of Phoenix Stadium, in Arizona.
In 2014, Rice was a coach along with fellow Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
The 2014 game was played in Honolulu, Hawaii, as Team Rice beat Team Sanders 22-21 in a close game.
Both coaches have not only participated in the fantasy-draft style format before, but both have won the Pro Bowl before.
This year's Pro Bowl will be played on January 31st, at Aloha Stadium in Hawaii.
Since 2014, the Pro Bowl shifted from an AFC-NFC game towards a fantasy draft style of selection, where the two captains alternate making selections at the given positions.
Despite experiencing a four-year low in ratings, the Pro Bowl still gains more viewers than it did from the years between 2001 and 2009.
